  • Numerous reclassification projects to the Regensburger Verbundklassifikation (RVK) have taken place in the past decades. This thesis focuses on the arrangement or reclassification of physical materials and their classification according to the RVK in special libraries, the needs of which differ from those of university libraries. In addition to the in-dexing challenges, most special libraries have fewer staff and less financial resources. This thesis first provides a theoretical overview of inventory development as a library service, in which the needs of the specific user groups are focused. Based on selected projects and an expert survey, the procedures are exemplarily outlined. By using the concrete example of the RVK reclassification project in an archaeological special library, the individual phases of project management and their tools are shown. What is special about this project is that it is above all „(student) assistant-based" and is exceptional due to the low personal and financial resources. The use of project management as a guarantee of success for a quick and sustainable reclassification is analyzed and evaluated. Finally, different and, if possible, generally applicable recommendations and planning steps for special libraries are formulated that are planning to change over to RVK.
