• In dieser Arbeit wird das irische Bibliothekssystem thematisiert. Eine kurze Beschreibung des öffentlichen Bibliothekssystems in Irland und Dublin führt zur genaueren Vorstellung der Central Library Dublin sowie ihrer innovativen Abteilung „Open Learning Centre“. Zudem wird das geplante Projekt (Mitgliedschaft bei Microsoft Academy) der Abteilung kurz dargestellt. Eine abschließende Analyse soll den Versuch starten, über etwaige Änderungen im deutschen öffentlichen Bibliothekssystem nachzudenken und eventuell Ideen des irischen Bibliothekssystems in abgeänderter Form zu übernehmen.
• The present paper deals with the library Germania Judaica. It discusses the circumstances of its creation, the historical process, and the status quo. Future suggestions for improvements and optimizations are also considered. For this purpose personal or telephone interviews, having been conducted with the current librarians and employees, are analyzed to gain first-hand information. Moreover, appropriate literature sources are examined. The aim of this paper is to present the story of the Germania Judaica from its beginnings until today and to compare their position with similar institutions. Furthermore, current problems are highlighted and possible solutions are proposed.
