• Musikstreaming ist aufgrund der hohen digitalen Verkaufszahlen für die Musikindustrie unverzichtbar geworden. Es bleibt jedoch unklar, ob Musikstreaming auch einen Einfluss auf den ewigen Kampf gegen die Musikpiraterie hat. Ziel dieser Untersuchung ist es daher, herauszufinden, welchen Einfluss Musikstreaming auf das illegale Kopieren von Musik hat. Um dies zu untersuchen, wurde eine quantitative Online-Umfrage zum Thema Musikstreaming und dessen Auswirkungen auf die Musikpiraterie durchgeführt. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass viele der Befragten früher auf illegale Weise auf Musik zugegriffen haben, dies aber nicht mehr tun müssen, da die Streamingdienste einige Vorteile mit sich bringen, wie zum Beispiel ein gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. In der Forschungsarbeit wird außerdem untersucht, wie sich Musikstreaming und Musikpiraterie in den letzten Jahren entwickelt haben und welche Rolle die Musikindustrie dabei gespielt hat. Der physische Musikmarkt ist im Rückgang, unter anderem aufgrund des technologischen Fortschritts. Das stetige Wachstum von Streamingdiensten wie Spotify ist enorm und hat sich nachhaltig auf die Entwicklung der Musikindustrie ausgewirkt. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass Streamingdienste die Musikpiraterie eindämmen und einen positiven Effekt auf den allgemeinen Musikkonsum erzielen.
• usic streaming has become indispensable to the music industry due to the high numbers of digital sales. However, it remains unclear whether music streaming also has an impact on the eternal fight against music piracy. Therefore, the objective of this research is to determine what impact music streaming has on the illegal copying of music. To investigate this, a quantitative online survey was conducted on the topic of music streaming and its effects on music piracy. The results showed that many of the respondents had previously accessed music through illegal means but no longer need to do so due to streaming services having several advantages, such as good price–performance ratios. This research also examines how music streaming and music piracy have developed in recent years and the role the music industry has played in this. The physical music market is in decline, partly due to technological advances. The steady growth of streaming services like Spotify is enormous and has had a lasting impact on the development of the music industry. These findings show that music streaming services limit music piracy and have a positive effect on the general consumption of music.
