Der Zusammenhang von Fear of Missing Out und der Intensität der Reaktionen bei emotionalen Werbevideos am Beispiel des sozialen Netzwerks Facebook

The correlations between Fear of Missing Out and the intensity of the reactions in the case of emotional advertising videos using the example of the social network Facebook

  • The present paper provides a comprehensive overview into the phenomenon of Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) and the correlation to emotional advertising in the form of Storytelling advertising videos. Theoretical correlations identifiy that those affected by the phenomenon are more susceptible to emotional advertising videos and therefore react more intensively to this. For this purpose, an empirical investigation by an online survey on the social network Facebook takes place. Due to the lack of representativeness of the collected data due to low FoMO values of all participants, a critique of the survey will be carried out in the further course of the work, as well as a new test run. But also the data of the new test run are characterized by low forms of FoMO of all participants. In conclusion, an analysis of the results suggests that emotional advertising videos with sad content cause more compassion, the more intense the FoMO value is, and that FoMO significantly influences honesty and credibility. Further investigations are recommended, which are relevant for future reexamination to further investigate the research question. It will give an overview into the topic of this paper. The research is interesting for readers who have experience in the advertising industry and / or use social media.
