Eine Untersuchung der Marktchancen von AR und VR auf ausgewählten Einsatzfeldern anhand zu erwartender Netzwerkeffekte

An investigation of the market opportunities of AR and VR on selected fields of application on the basis of expected network effects

  • The goal of this bachelor thesis is to investigate the chances of success of augmented and virtual reality in selected fields of application. The investigation is carried out by the determination of direct and indirect network effects. Indicators were set up for each field of application. The indicators were examined on the basis of the data that were found. To determine direct network effects, the communication among users was investigated. Indirect network effects were determined by investigating the product benefit. The fields of application studied are the games, marketing, medical, education and industry sectors. Network effects could be determined on all five fields of application. The network effects are equally strong in the medical, educational and marketing sectors for AR and VR. Therefore, the chances of success for AR and VR in the sectors are the same and the technologies are used in different areas. VR is more successful in the game sector, but the potential for AR in this field is high. AR has greater chances of success in the industrial sector. It is meaningful to repeat the investigation in a few years, when the data basis is larger, in order to check the measurement method by means of the determination of network effects.
