  • How are users perceived by an art library working with a participatory and transdisciplinary approach? How can its users actively participate through a progressive digital infrastructure provided by the library? These central questions form the subject of this work. Initially, an understanding of the concepts of participation and transdisciplinarity in the context of art and art theory is outlined, using an artistic work by Clegg & Guttmann and the Cultural Studies Library of Aby Warburg. In the Swiss Art Library Sitterwerk, the dynamic order forms the basis for a participatory-transdisciplinary approach and an associated progressively open formatted digital infrastructure. The Werkbank/ Bibliozine – provided by the Sitterwerk – is a working tool for users. With this tool gained information and knowledge are made usable for other users digitally and analogously – by printing them as a bibliozine. The analysis of the Werkbank/ Bibliozine will show that users are – and can be – actively involved within art libraries.
