• Diese Bachelorarbeit untersucht im Rahmen einer Umfrage, inwieweit Bonner Bibliotheken in ihrem Dienstleistungsangebot für Senioren den Erwartungen dieser Zielgruppe entsprechen. Des Weiteren werden Möglichkeiten zur Optimierung der Bibliotheksarbeit mit Menschen im Alter von über 55 Jahren untersucht und aufgezeigt. Der empirische Teil der Arbeit basiert auf einem Fragebogen, der in Bonner Begegnungsstätten für Senioren ausgelegt und vorgestellt wurde. Neben der Bereitschaft zur ehrenamtlichen Mitarbeit wird u.a. nach präferierten Veranstaltungstypen gefragt. Durch einen Vergleich der Erkenntnisse aus der Umfrage mit statistischen Erhebungen aus der Mediennutzungsforschung wird Einblick gegeben in die Mediennutzung von Senioren. Außerdem werden Best Practice Beispiele öffentlicher Bibliotheken aus Deutschland vorgestellt, die in etwa mit der Größe der Stadtbibliothek Bonn vergleichbar sind. Indem nationale und internationale innovative Konzepte vorgestellt und tendenzielle Wünsche der Bonner Senioren beleuchtet werden, soll ein Bild entstehen von der Vielfalt möglicher Bibliotheksangebote für Senioren. Es ist das Ziel dieser Arbeit, öffentliche Bibliotheken dazu zu inspirieren, den Blick für die aktuell ältere Generation zu öffnen und Handlungsoptionen nicht nur aufzuführen, sondern auch ihre Wichtigkeit für Senioren zu begründen.
• This bachelor thesis examines the work of the public library of Germany’s Federal City Bonn for people over the age of 55 and investigates how the expectations of the elderly living in Bonn are met by the services provided by the library. Moreover ways in which public libraries can improve their services for the elderly are presented. The empirical part of the thesis is based on a survey that was conducted in community centers for senior citizens in Bonn. As well as asking about the willingness of seniors to work voluntarily the survey asks - among other things - which kind of events senior citizens are most interested in. Comparing the results of the survey with other statistical investigations provides insights into the media use of seniors. Additionally best practice examples of work for seniors in German public libraries are shown. These libraries are comparable in size to the public library Bonn. By introducing innovative national and international concepts and by presenting the needs and wishes of Bonn’s elderly population, an overview of the variety of possible services libraries can provide for seniors is created. The thesis aims to inspire public libraries to open up to seniors and to present possible courses of action. Furthermore highlighted is the importance of effective public services provided by libraries for people of old age.
