• Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, festzustellen, ob im deutschen Bibliothekswesen der Bedarf für eine Innovationsförderstiftung besteht und ob diese finanzierbar ist. Zu diesem Zweck werden als erstes Innovation und Innovationsmanagement anhand von Fachliteratur definiert sowie ihre Bedeutung für Bibliotheken dargestellt. Darauf folgen die rechtlichen Rahmenbedingungen einer Stiftungsgründung in Deutschland. Anschließend werden exemplarisch Förderstrukturen für Innovation in Industrie und Forschung sowie für Bibliotheken vorgestellt, außerdem wird das Strategiekonzept Bibliothek 2007, welches bislang vergeblich für die Einführung einer Bibliotheksentwicklungsagentur plädierte, zusammengefasst. Diese Informationen dienen als Grundlage für die Auswertung von sechs Experteninterviews mit Vertretern von öffentlichen und wissenschaftlichen Bibliotheken sowie des Deutschen Bibliotheksverbands (dbv). In diesen Interviews wurden der Bedarf einer Stiftung sowie die Möglichkeiten einer Finanzierung besprochen. Das Ergebnis sind vier theoretische Modelle für die Stiftung, die aber praktisch nur schwer umzusetzen sind.
• The goal of this paper is to ascertain the need for a foundation for funding innovation in German libraries as well as the possibility of financing it. First, innovation and innovation management are defined by means of scientific literature and their importance for libraries is presented. Additionally the legal requirements for creating a foundation in Germany are analyzed. Next, the examples of the funding and supporting structures for innovation in industry and research as well as in libraries are outlined. Furthermore, a summary of the strategy paper Bibliothek 2007, which contains the up to now futile call for a national agency for library development, is added. This information is the basis for the analysis of six interviews with representatives of public and scientific libraries as well as the German Library Association (dbv). These interviews were supposed to determine the need for and the means to finance the foundation. In the end, four models come up as a result, although all of them will be difficult to implement.
