• Das Spannungsfeld von wachsenden Anforderungen bei gleichbleibenden oder sinkenden personellen und finanziellen Ressourcen sowie die Anpassung an die wandelnden strategischen Veränderungen des eigenen Unternehmens, konfrontie-ren Unternehmensbibliotheken mit großen Herausforderungen. Das Konzept Lean Management bietet einen ursachenorientierten Lösungsansatz, der alle Bereiche des Arbeitsumfeldes einbindet. Lean Management umfasst eine Reihe von Verfahrensweisen, deren Ursprung in der Produktion (Automobilin-dustrie) liegt, und stellt die konsequente Ausrichtung auf den Kunden in den Mit-telpunkt der operativen Leistungsfähigkeit. Diese Arbeit stellt die historische Entwicklung des Lean Management dar und be-handelt die Übertragung der Prinzipien auf Bereiche außerhalb der industriellen Produktion mit einem besonderen Fokus auf den Bereich Bibliothek und Informa-tion. Sie zeigt die Umsetzung von Lean Management in einer Unternehmensbiblio-thek exemplarisch anhand der Pharmabibliothek der Grünenthal Gruppe auf. Lean Management erzielt eine nachhaltige Veränderung von Arbeitsprozessen nicht durch einzelne Verbesserungsprojekte, sondern verfolgt einen ganzheitli-chen Ansatz, der verschiedene Gestaltungsprinzipien einer Bibliothek gleichzeitig adressiert.
• The stress field of growing demands for consistent or decreasing human and finan-cial resources, as well as adapting to the strategic changes of the company, are challenging for corporate libraries. The Lean Management concept provides a solution-oriented approach that inte-grates all areas of the work environment. Lean Management covers a range of pro-cesses, which originate in the production (automotive industry) and puts the focus on the customer at the center of the operational performance. This master thesis presents the historical development of the Lean Management and deals with the transfer of the principles to areas outside the industrial produc-tion with a particular focus on the library and information area. It shows the im-plementation of Lean Management in a corporate library exemplarily using the library of the Grünenthal Group. Lean Management does not achieve a sustainable change of work processes through individual improvement projects, but pursues a holistic approach which addresses different design principles of a library at the same time.
