N2  - Die Kenntnis relevanter Märkte und Zielgruppen wissenschaftlicher Bibliotheken bekommt vor dem Hintergrund zunehmend internetbasierter Serviceangebote in derInformationslandschaft und der sich ändernden Wettbewerbssituation eine immer höhere Bedeutung. Als Teil des strategischen Marketings stellt eine Markt- und Zielgruppenanalyse eine wichtige Voraussetzung für den Prozess der Ziel- und Strategiefindung sowie der Umsetzung von Maßnahmen im operativen Marketing dar. Der Beitrag zeigt auf, welche organisatorischen und inhaltlichen Punkte eine Bibliothek für die erfolgreiche Durchführung einer Markt- und Zielgruppenanalyse beachten muss und fasst sie in Form eines Leitfadens zusammen. In diesem Kontext wird auch diskutiert, unter welchen Rahmenbedingungen die Vergabe der Analyse an externe Berater sinnvoll ist.
N2  - Knowledge of relevant markets and target groups is of increasing importance for scientific libraries. Growth of web-based services in the information landscape and a developing competitive environment are both key drivers of this increasing importance. Being part of the strategic marketing process, the analysis of markets and target groups is an important condition for strategic target setting and the development of operational marketing activities. This article deals with the key aspects for a successful execution of a market and target group analysis within a scientific library and summarizes them in form of a standardized guideline. In this context supporting this process with external consultants is a considerable option. The article gives an overview of the pros and cons for this option.
