N2  - Die folgende Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit der Thematik des mittelalterlichen Bibliothekswesens im Orient und im Okzident. Dabei werden die Bibliotheken des „Bayt al-Hikma“, des Ashrafiya Mausoleums und des Kölner Doms verglichen. Um einen bestmöglichen Vergleich bieten zu können, werden die Gemeinsamkeiten, sowie die einzelnen Bibliotheken genauer betrachtet. Aufgrund fehlender Fundlagen und Kennzahlen wird der Vergleich eher auf qualitativen als auf quantitativen Grundlagen erstell.
N2  - The following work focuses on the subject of medieval libraries in the Orient and the Occident. The libraries of the Bayt al-Hikma, the Ashrafiya Mausoleum and the Cologne Cathedral are compared. In order to be able to offer the best possible comparison, the common features as well as the individual libraries will be examined more closely. Due to the lack of findings and key figures the comparison is based on qualitative rather than quantitative data.
