N2  - Gegenstand der vorliegenden Arbeit ist die Erarbeitung eines schulbibliothekarischen Konzeptes für Māori Schüler in neuseeländischen primary schools. Das Leben der māorischen Gesellschaft wird noch heute geprägt durch die Kolonialisierung der Europäer. 
Bildungslücken der Ureinwohner hinsichtlich den Kernkompetenzen lesen, schreiben und rechnen sowie die Māori Literacy sind aktuelle Herausforderungen für die neuseeländischen Bildungseinrichtungen. Hier soll ein schulbibliothekarisches Konzept Hilfestellung leisten, um Barrieren zwischen Māori- und pakeha Schülern zu überwinden und dort anschließen wo das westlich geprägte Bildungssystem aufhört. Die Schulbibliothek dient etwa der Medien- und Informationsbereitstellung, als Ort für Leseförderung und stellt in der Schule einen erweiterten Lern- und Kommunikationsraum dar.
N2  - The subject of this work is the development of a school library concept for Māori students in New Zealand’s primary schools. The lives of Māori in today’s society are still affected by the colonization by the Europeans. Educational gaps in core competencies such as reading, writing and counting, as well as Māori literacy, are important topics for New Zealand educational institutions. Therefore, a school library concept should support the needs of Māori society. The school library provides access to media and information, serves as a place to promote reading, and is a learning environment, as well as a communicational space.
